Ann Brokaw

Ann Brokaw has over 25 years of experience in the biology classroom currently teaching Advanced Placement Biology, College Credit Plus Biology, and Biology. Ann is passionate about biology and science education and continually seeks ways to improve her classroom practice as well as her personal content knowledge.

Ann has facilitated numerous professional development workshops and sessions at the local, state, regional, and national levels consistently modeling best practices and classroom-ready resources. Most notably, she has presented on behalf of HHMI BioInteractive, AAAS Science in the Classroom, Rice University’s Summer AP Professional Development Program, and the American Association of Immunologists. In addition to facilitating PD, Ann has developed classroom resources for HHMI BioInteractive, AAAS Science in the Classroom, and Pearson Education. Finally, as a Team Specialist for the Knowles Teacher Initiative’s Teaching Fellows Program, Ann works with early-career high school math and science teachers in their efforts to develop teaching expertise and leadership skills.

In addition to being the recipient of the 2013 Kim Foglia AP Biology Service Award from NABT, she is also a 2007 Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Education, the 2006 Outstanding Biology Teacher in Ohio, and the 2005 Teacher of the Year for the Rocky River City Schools.

Ann holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Wittenberg University and a master’s degree in biology from Kent State University.
